What 21 Tasty Ingredients Are in The Broadmoor’s Giant Gingerbread Chateau?
It's ten feet tall and 12 feet wide; The Broadmoor's creation is not a gingerbread house; good Sir, it is a gingerbread chateau.
If you've ever been to Colorado's legendary The Broadmoor Resort, you know that they don't hold back when it comes to 'putting on the Ritz,' that would include the constructing of their annual gingerbread chateau.
21 ingredients, including a LOT of Hot Tamales, go into the project.
How was it constructed?
10 pastry chefs, along with two carpenters, spent nearly 300 hours putting it all together.
From Executive Chef David Patterson:
It’s a labor of love but watching guests and visitors – especially children – enjoy the display is quite magical...the Broadmoor’s annual giant gingerbread displays certainly add a special touch of fun to the holidays.
Can anyone stay at the chateau?
No. Though it does look like a delicious stay, visitors can only observe the creation on display through New Year's Day on the mezzanine of The Broadmoor's main building.
I've never had the opportunity to visit, let alone stay at The Broadmoor. If you're unfamiliar, it's about 2 1/2 hours drive from Fort Collins to the 5,000 acre resort in Colorado Springs. It's a luxury resort, with golf, fine dining, fly fishing, a spa, tennis, and more, much more.
Looking at the list of ingredients they used for this year's chateau, it has to taste great. I wonder what they do with it after the holidays? I also wonder what the HOA fees would be for a neighborhood of gingerbread chateaus?
