No Bibles Allowed To Be Given At Colorado Mesa University
It has been a tradition at Colorado Mesa University to hand out bibles at the University's Pinning Ceremony for Nurses. As of Wednesday, this is no longer the case.
KKCO reports that on Wednesday President Foster decided the distribution of bibles on campus would be canceled indefinitely.
In a statement Ann Landmann who is a Western Colorado Atheist and a member of the Freethinkers board said:
"No student at a publicly funded institution should be put in the position of having to accept, or reject, a religious ideology, let alone in front of an entire audience""They were concerned about being put into the position of having to accept a bible, or refuse a bible, in front of an audience"
With a possible lawsuit by the ACLU, Colorado Mesa University chose not to give out bibles.
