Grand Junction is full of amazing people of all walks of life. Diversity is alive and well in the Grand Valley during the 4th Annual Colorado West Pride Festival!

The Colorado West Pride Festival celebrates diversity in all forms. It is a spectacular week worth of events that all can attend. This year CWP’s theme is Olympus. You can celebrate the LGBTQ community and help to promote equality.  This year’s Pride Fest has a number of different events to appeal to people with a variety of interests

Events this year include:

Monday, May 2, 6:00 p.m.:  For the first time, CWP is including a book event. Come join CWP at the Mesa County Public Library Main Branch for a discussion of the Lambda Award Winning Novel by Alexis De Veaux, Yabo. Free and open to the public.

Thursday, May 5, doors open at 7:00 p.m, show at 8:00 p.m. Mesa Theater and Club. This year’s Theater Night features a staging of Bill Russell and Janet Hood’s Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens. This production gives voice to lives lost in the early years of the AIDS epidemic, and stories to names that appeared on the Names Project Quilt. The play does include adult language.

Friday, May 6, 8:00 p.m. Mesa Theater and Club.  18+ The White Party! In keeping with CWP’s theme this year, Olympus, we encourage partygoers to come in togas. White parties have a long history in the LGBTQ community as a fun way to build community. Come dance the night away! DJ B and DJ Gable will be spinning.

Saturday, May 7, 8:00 p.m. Mesa Theater and Club.  18+ The Rainbow Party! Ready for more dancing, this time in all the colors under the sun? The rainbow has long been a symbol of LGBTQ equality, representing and celebrating our diversity. The Rainbow Party includes a full-length drag extravaganza featuring RuPaul Girl, Jaidynn Diore Fierce and American Idol’s Scarlet Bre Suarez, along with many other drag kings and queens.

Sunday, May 8, parade and Pride Fest! Free, all ages, family friendly. Join us first for our annual parade along Main Street. The parade begins at noon from the City Market parking lot at First and Rood and then proceeds down Main Street. Come join our community and our allies for what we hope is our biggest parade yet! The festival then continues at 1:00 p.m. outside of M City Lounge at 515 S. Seventh Street. The festival features performances, vendors, food, and fun.
