Awesome Colorado Location for the Old Ball and Chain
Did you know you can rent this historic site located not far from Cow Mountain and just down the road from Pikes Peak?
When your day of bliss rolls around, consider booking the Outlaws and Lawmen Jail Museum in Cripple Creek. This venue is the historic Teller County Jail which served the community from 1901 until 1992.
Take a Tour
You can visit the old jail year-round Friday through Monday from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. Visits run $5 for those 11 and older. Kids ten and under get in free.
Why You Should Get Married Here
Over the course of my 33-year music career, I've played hundreds of weddings. These range from performing on the back of a flatbed trailer in the middle of a field to playing exclusive country clubs in Aspen and Vail.
While it's none of my business, and speaking as an observer, in my opinion, there is no real difference between a $5,000 wedding and a $200,000 wedding. The event is supposed to be a celebration of two people choosing to spend their lives together. With that in mind, why not do something unique?
Not Just For Prisoners Anymore
In this case, we're not talking about a current inmate getting married at their detention facility. Not at all. I'm talking about renting a 120-year-old Colorado jail, a place that used to house some notorious baddies, for your wedding.
Unusual, but Not New
The Outlaws and Lawmen Jail Museum isn't the only former jail offering this service. The Old Kent Jailhouse in Kent, Ohio, offers a similar service. People rent this facility to host smaller, more intimate wedding events. Looking into this option, you'll find it to be convenient and affordable.
Where to Find This Venue
The Outlaws and Lawmen Jail Museum can be found roughly 280 miles from Grand Junction. If the universe allows it, you can simply travel I-70 to Silverthorne, and then head south on Highway 9 through Breckenridge to Fairplay and then to Cripple Creek. You can also take Highway 24 at Minturn, but you'll pick up a few extra miles. If life continues to unfold the way it has the last few months, you may choose to take Highway 50 to Gunnison, Salida, and then Cripple Creek.
You'll find the jail at 136 W Bennett Ave Cripple Creek, Colorado. Give them a call at (719) 689-6556.
