The Colorado Mesa Mavericks Rodeo team is hosting their first rodeo in over a decade this weekend in the Maverick Stampede Rodeo. To kick things off and to draw interest from students and staff, the rodeo team released about ten steer on campus.

Apparently, this is going to be a new tradition for the rodeo team as they are calling this event the First Annual Steer Stroll. Students and staff of CMU weren't warned about this previously, and were surprised when a heard of steer started running through the campus quad.

The Maverick Stampede Rodeo will kick off this evening at the Mesa County Fair Grounds at 7 p.m. There are over 200 competitors from 10 different schools from across the nation. They will be competing in events like Bull Riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding and goat tying. There will also be a Mutton Bustin event this weekend. The Maverick Stampede will continue on Saturday as well.

Tickets for this event are only $ 8 for adults, $ 5 for students and military, and kids 5-and-under are free.
