The Colorado Mesa Mavericks have landed two division one basketball transfers for the 2016-17 season including a native of Poland.

Filip Nowicki (pictured), is a 6' 10" center from Wloclawek, Poland who has played the last two seasons with division one Sacred Heart. Nowicki played in 40 games including a game against Ohio State in which he scored 11 points and pulled down 9 rebounds in 22 minutes.

With his size, Nowicki will help fill the void left by 2016 Division II National Player of the Year Ryan Stephen, who the Mavericks lost to graduation.

Mavericks Head Coach Andy Shantz says he expects Nowicki to "come in and compete right off the bat."

Another transfer with division one experience is 5' 11" guard James Sylvester who played with Coppin State last season, averaging 10 points and four rebounds per game. Shantz says Sylvester will make "an immediate impact on both ends of the floor."

The other addition to the roster comes in the form of Nils Erik Ludvig Saldh of Gothenburg, Sweden, who signed with the Mavericks last fall.

CMU is coming off a successful 21-9 season that saw them go 16-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, three games behind first place Fort Lewis
