Woman’s Racist Tirade Directed at Reporter While Camera Rolls
The media has become the story in this ugly confrontation.
A woman in Boone, Iowa went off on KCCI reporter Emmy Victor and cameraman Zachary Hayes, going so far as touching Victor and yelling racial epithets at Victor.
Victor and Hayes were in the area doing a story on the shooting death of Michael Disbrowe when the woman cursed them out, put her hands on Victor and knocked over a tripod. The woman has been identified as Disbrowe's mother.
Victor and Hayes managed to remain cool and collected during the woman's outburst. No one was injured.
KCCI general manager Brian Sather applauded his employees' behavior during the incident. "The safety of our crews is critically important as they cover stories affecting our communities," he said. "This morning Emmy and Zach demonstrated the utmost professionalism in the face of a very difficult, emotionally-charged situation."
It's unclear if the woman will face any charges.
Victor's decision to remain calm during the ordeal earned her the respect of others on social media.
