Living in small towns isn't for everyone, but traveling to visit them can be a very cool experience. I am from a small town in Wisconsin and was curious as to what type of town would make the "Top 12 Small Towns in America" list.

I am from a real small town, population 598, and a high school graduating class of 42, where everyone knew your business. The cool part, you had extended family all over town. I miss that.

I can go back 20 years later and people treat me like I never left. That is something you can't find in a big city or a bigger town. So the headline "Top 12 Small Towns in America" caught me and I had to see just what made these towns so special.

I agree with some and was somewhat puzzled, by others. All these little funky towns  have their unique charm so I imagine its tough to cut it down to 12.

Being from Wisconsin I was glad to see Door County on the list, so much to do there from beaches to camping to just rustic charm.

Colorado made the list with Glenwood Springs for obvious reasons that we in Colorado already know about, right? I still need to get up there to try that alpine roller coaster, my kids will love that.

A few out east surprised me but the top spot was the small town of Sedona, Arizona, which didn't surprise me at all.

From the red rocks to Slide Rock State Park, where a bunch of punk 20 somethings from Wisconsin can have the time of their lives all afternoon drinking some cold ones and enjoying a natural rock slides. 20 plus years later and I will always remember that place.

The area is simultaneously mystical, amazing and tranquil like nowhere I've ever been.  I went there along time ago but still remember it like it was yesterday.

Check out the list and see if you agree or if you thought they should have included a town you think deserves mention. Sorry to report neither Grand Junction nor Moab made the list.
