The winter snowstorm moving through Western Colorado has forced one school district to close all of its schools today (December 15). Another school is delaying classes for one hour.

Garfield County School District 16 (Parachute) has closed all schools in the district for the day. Classes are expected to resume normal schedules tomorrow.

Schools affected by the closure include Grand Valley High School, Grand Valley Middle School, Bea Underwood Elementary and the Grand Valley Center for Family Learning.

The district says the 4th and 5th grade concert scheduled for this evening has also been canceled.

Gateway School has announced that snow has forced them to delay classes by one hour, giving students more time to safely get to school.

Depending on road conditions, other schools may experience short delays in picking up children on bus routes, but are still planning on normal class schedules for the day.
