Due to the snowy and windy weather in Mesa County, School District 51 is delaying the start times for all schools. Buses will run two hours later with the delay.

Mesa County School District 51 released the following on their website on Thursday afternoon:

After consulting with area road supervisors and monitoring weather conditions, District 51 has decided that on Friday, January 6, all schools will begin classes two hours later than regular start times. All buses will run two hours later than usual. Temperatures will be in single digits in the morning, so please plan accordingly and limit outside exposure for your students while waiting for buses. Full day kindergarten and grades 1-12 will be in session with a 2 hour delayed start. For example, if your school normally starts at 8:50 a.m. on Friday, school will start at 10:50 a.m. Preschool and kindergarten morning sessions are cancelled. Afternoon preschool and afternoon kindergarten will be in session at their regular time. Again, all buses will run two hours later than usual. Please be careful and allow plenty of time to travel. Updates will be posted on www.d51schools.org, and our Facebook and Twitter pages as they become available.

Be sure to keep current on school closings and road conditions in the morning in case worsening weather causes a complete closure.
