With just over a week left before Christmas, the Salvation Army 2014 Grand Junction Toy Drive is coming to a close, but more toy donations are needed to ensure all the children have a gift this year.

There have been some generous donations this season including those from the annual Toy Run earlier this month. But otherwise, donations have been slow.

According to Claudia Jackson, Director of Public Relations, The Salvation Army has approximately 1,800 families with 3,100 children who's only hope for a toy for Christmas is from local donations.

The distribution of the toys starts on Wednesday (December 17). However, due to the shortage of toys and gifts, you can still drop off items you've purchased Wednesday and Thursday at the KOOL 107.9 studios at 315 Kennedy Avenue or at the Salvation Army on the corner of 4th Street and Glenwood Avenue.

If you haven't already shopped, the best thing you can do right now is make a cash donation to the Salvation Army KOOL Toys for Kids Toy Drive. The money will used to purchase needed items that are in short supply.
