Grand Junction’s Annual Spring Clean Up Could Put Money in Your Pocket

Most people don't necessarily enjoy spring cleaning, but the thought that it could be profitable may make it a little bit more tolerable.

Spring clean up in Grand Junction means getting those unwanted items out by the curb to be picked up for disposal by city crews. However, not everything that is thrown away is junk, and the Salvation Army would like you to think before you curb it.

If you have stuff you're getting rid of, it may be of value to somebody else, so why not donate it to the Salvation Army?

Your donation is tax deductible, and the Salvation Army will provide you with a receipt for your records. You will get a nice tax deduction and at the same time, you will be supporting a local drug and alcohol program.

City clean up begins April 11 for those in the city limits north of North Avenue, and begins on April 18 at 7 a.m. for city residents south of North Avenue. This weekend would be a good time to go through your stuff to decide what you want to get rid of, and which items could be donated.

Maybe you have unwanted furniture, working appliances, sports equipment, tools, and household items, but you don't want the hassle of a yard sale. This is the perfect solution. What's really cool is the fact that the Salvation Army will send out a truck to pick up your donations. Just call them up at 245-9231 to make arrangements.

A couple of things to keep in mind. The Salvation Army can not accept gas appliances, and will not receive televisions or computers.

So, before setting your "junk" by the curb for city clean up this year, consider whether your stuff might be suitable for the Salvation Army.
