You can still catch a handful of shows at this Grand Junction theatre before its impending demolition. Here's a sneak peek at the remaining performances scheduled for Colorado Mesa University's Robinson Theatre.

Looking at the schedule, at least one musical, a dance concert, and a number of concerts will appear on the Robinson stage before it closes to make way for a new facility.

The End of An Era... Sort Of

The Robinson Theatre at the Moss Performing Arts Center at Colorado Mesa University is scheduled for demolition later this year. Don't worry, a new theatre will be constructed in its place, honoring the existing footprint.

You may be asking yourself, "What about the new dance studio, experimental theatre, costume shop, and set construction studio? Aren't those brand new?" The only building set for demolition is the Robinson Theatre and its lobby. The other facilities such as the dance studio will be unaffected.

Other Performances Coming to the Robinson Stage in 2022

Saturday, September 24, 2022, marks the Grand Junction Rockestra's final performance on the Robinson stage. Don't take that to mean the band is coming to end. Not at all. They held their first performance at Robinson Theatre years ago and will continue for many years to come. Sadly, this will be their last show at the venue they've called home.

The Grand Junction Rockestra posted the following on their official Facebook page:

Come share our final show with us in Robinson Theatre! (Robinson Theater will be torn down to make way for a new venue!) We are performing SEVEN new songs we have added to our library:
Still of the Night - Whitesnake

A Major Contribution to Western Colorado

According to the official Colorado Mesa University website, the construction of the new theater "...will increase the cultural and financial well-being of the surrounding region. The new theatre will be the only one of its kind between the I-25 corridor on the Front Range and Salt Lake City allowing CMU to bring in touring companies and expand offerings for the region."

CMU students will soon be given the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technology in a state-of-the-art building preparing them for professional advancement in a highly competitive and ever-innovative field.” - Theatre Arts Department Head Mo LaMée via coloradomesa.edu

Curtin Call

Make an effort to catch at least one more performance at Robinson Theatre at the Moss Performing Arts Center. Robinson has served this community since 1968, hosting thousands of outstanding theatre, music, and dance performances. It wasn't that long ago we were all confined to our homes, wishing we could get out and enjoy a live performance. Looking at the schedule, although time is short, there are still a number of performances to be held before the Robinson Theatre says farewell.
