Grand Junction’s Go-To Guide for Authentic Mexican Food in 2022

The Grand Valley has no shortage of great Mexican food. However, there is certainly a difference between Americanized Mexican food and authentic Mexican food.

Curious, I posted a question on Facebook asking what your go-to is for authentic Mexican food in Grand Junction and got a plethora of responses.

A few Mexican restaurants in Grand Junction were mentioned by multiple people as their favorites for authentic Mexican food. These places include Mi Mexico located at 624 Rae Lynn Street, Leon's Mexican Restaurant located at 503 30 Road, Las Marias Mexican Restaurant at 118 S. 7th, El Tapatio located at 1145 North Avenue, Azteca's Family Mexican Restaurant located at 705 Horizon Drive, and Agavero's Mexican Experience located at 569 32 Road.

While these Mexican restaurants appear to be the favorite go-to places for authentic Mexican food in Grand Junction, other responses included places like Los Jilberto's, Golosas Mexican Sandwiches, Fiesta Guadalajara, El M7 Mariscos y Mas, Leon's Mexican Restaurant, and Tequila's.

Home is Where Grand Junction's Authentic Mexican Food Is

While the majority of the answers to the question in regard to the best authentic Mexican food in Grand Junction referred to restaurants, a handful of people that responded insist that the best authentic Mexican food in town is at home.

For example, Rick, Sam, and Dominique say that the best authentic Mexican food is at their houses, while Peggy relies on her family members and Colbran's pick is his friend Shalisa's house.
