Where You’ll Find Grand Junction Colorado’s Finest for National ‘Pi’ Day

In honor of National Pi Day, I asked you to vote for the Grand Junction, Colorado's best pie. The polls are closed, and these are the results.

For the record, this is not a typo. Today, Monday, March 14, 2022, is "National Pi Day." In honor of this special day, people all over the country get out and enjoy their favorite pies.

What's With the Distinction Between "Pi Day" and "Pie Day"?

According to the Americanl Pie Council, January 23 was National Pie Day. The website Holiday Insights suggested we all run right out and celebrate.

National Pie Day is a special day that is set aside to bake and cook all of your favorite pies. On this day, you are also encouraged to bake a few new pie recipes. And most importantly, it's a day to eat pies! A great way to celebrate National Pie Day is to bake some pies and give them away to friends, neighbors, and relatives. You never know, you may be starting a tradition of pie giving between your friends and family.

Today, March 14, is National Pi Day. According to Google,

Pi Day is celebrated each March 14 in honor of the mathematical constant — and as an excuse to indulge in all the sweet and flaky scrumptiousness that is a great pie. (Nevermind that pie has its own day)

Yeah, who cares that we already observed National Pie Day? There's nothing wrong with finding an excuse to celebrate pie for a second time this year.

Searching For Grand Junction Colorado's Best Pie (or Pi)

I'm not a pie person, so I had no idea where to begin. A buddy at the station, Zane Mathews, posted last Thanksgiving with his findings for Grand Junction's best pumpkin pie. That was helpful, but it still didn't point me in the right direction.

On that note, I turned to you. The question was asked, "Where does one go around Grand Junction and the surrounding area to enjoy pie?" You stepped up to the plate (pun intended) in a big way. The votes have been counted, and these are the results, shown here with a..... get ready for it..... pie chart (that pun was intended, too).

Congratulations Village Inn with 42.03 percent of the vote.

Coming in second was Homestyle Bakery.

With our third-place winner... we have a problem. It appears as the third-place winner will receive their award posthumously. Alpine Pie Co. in Fruita is permanently closed.  Wow, that's customer loyalty.
