A new wildfire that has erupted in Colorado is impacting travel for those headed to the popular Country Jam music festival in Loma.

As per.an update from Colorado State Patrol (CSP) via Twitter on Wednesday (June 23), the Wild Cow Fire "has erupted northwest of Fruita", is currently impacting travel for those headed to Country Jam in Loma, which is just a few miles away from the wildfire.

The wildfire is located south of Baxter Pass in Garfield County.

As of Tuesday afternoon (June 22), the Lower Valley Fire District said the Wild Cow Fire had grown to 248 acres; containment of the fire is currently unknown.

The Lower Valley Fire District, as well as Colorado State Patrol in Fruita are asking drivers to limit traveling on Highway 6 and Highway 50 between Fruita and Mack. Colorado State Patrol also noted that drivers headed toward the popular music fest should use I-70 as the primary route, in order to allow first responders to work around and contain this fire.

Country Jam Music Festival kicks off Thursday, June 24 and will run through Saturday, June 26 in Loma, which is just west of Grand Junction.
