The free bus service known as 'The Dash' has been suspended until August in Grand Junction.

Downtown Grand Junction started providing a free bus service last year on March 21. You used to be able to catch a free ride on two buses that ran every Thursday through Saturday from 4:15 p.m. until 12:15 a.m. -- but not anymore.

The Dash isn't dashing through downtown, CMU, or the Grand Junction airport anymore. According to downtown Grand Junction's website, the Dash has been put on pause:

Due to social distancing requirements and the CDC recommendation of only using public transit for essential service and the absence of students and tourists. The DASH service will be suspended effective June 1st.

Downtown Grand Junction goes on to say that they plan to relaunch the free bus service in August when CMU students return. Changes were made to the Dash bus service starting in March.

First, stops were reduced to once an hour versus once every 30 minutes. Then in April, the end time changed from 12:05 a.m. to 8:05 p.m and now, the service has been suspended.

According to the Grand Valley transit, regular Route 1 hours will resume and fares are required. Every bus can hold about 54 passengers and there are 52 stops along Route 1. You can find out more information about The Dash and all bus route and fare changes in Grand Junction here.
