Grand Junction gets cold. There is no doubt. Winter can be beautiful here, but if you are not a huge fan of the cold temperatures, it can be a shocker!. I found some places that will make you feel all warm and toasty inside.

I was curious about what places around the world get even colder than here in Grand Junction. Cntraveler has found some of these places. Check out these temps if you think it is cold here!

Oymyakon, Russia

Oymyakon holds a record for world’s coldest location, inhabited or otherwise. Back in 1933  the thermometer plunged to a mind and body-numbing -90. Today, the winter temperature in this remote area averages a bone-snapping 58 below.

Eureka, Canada

In Winter months such as January and February, the temperatures in Eureka  have been known to drop below -58° degrees, and winter 1979 saw a teeth-chattering -67.5° F.

Denali, Alaska (This location will get your attention)

-75° F, and a wind chill that can plummet to -118° F, in this area, the temperatures can freeze a human body in seconds.

Rogers Pass, Montana

The continental divide and up 5,610 feet above sea level, this pass is home to the coldest recorded temperature in the  United States thanks to a mercury-busting day back in January 1954 when the winter chill reached a record-setting -70° F.

So the temperatures here in Grand Junction don't seem so bad do they? I know that when the negative sign comes out, it can seem like it will never get warm again. Knowing that some areas are at -118. I am good with -2 or -4, heck even at -10! It is still a ton warmer here!
