Colorado’s Healthiest County Rankings: Larimer 7th, Weld 20th
Northern Colorado's Larimer and Weld counties rank among the top third of the healthiest in the state according to a recently published rankings list.
Larimer was seventh and Weld was 20th in the annual county health rankings by the nonprofit Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. There are 65 Colorado counties — all but five were included the state's rankings. Each state's rankings are available at countyhealthrankings.org
The health rankings are determined by a number of data points, including the length of life, quality of life, health behaviors, clinical care, social and economic factors, and physical environment. The University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute helps assist in assembling the rankings and data.
Larimer and Weld both had their highest rankings for clinical care.
Douglas County, located south of Denver, ranked as the healthiest county in the state. Of the 60 ranked Colorado counties, Costilla County located on the New Mexico border ranked last.
