After the Disneyland trip for my daughter's birthday, I talked my dad into coming back to Grand Junction for a few days to hang out. I announced to him on Saturday night that we were going to travel to Palisade for a mini wine tour. He did not complain. Not a bit!

Now, I would hope that most of you have already had the pleasure of checking out our local wineries. If you haven't, it's time! I'm going to tell you guys about the four that we went to, and what we thought. Who wins Miss Em's prize? (the prize of being Miss Em's pick, that is)

My dad, the boyfriend and I visited Grande River Vineyards, Talon Winery, St. Kathryn's Cellars, and Plum Creek Winery. If you're going to multiple places, be sure to have someone designated to drive. Palisade police are doing their job to keep you safe, and DUI is the LAST thing you need to end your tour with (safety portion of the story).

Well, we did our tastings and the wine winners were chosen! Drum roll please!

Dad's Pick: Semi Sweet from Grande River Vineyard

Matt's Pick: Plum Creek's Cabernet Sauvignon

Miss Em's Pick: (it's a tie) Sauvignon Blanc from Grande River, AND Palisade Red from Plum Creek.

Overall? The prize goes to Plum Creek for me.

At least, on that particular day. The woman who helped us was absolutely wonderful, every wine I tasted was excellent, and the facility is gorgeous! Take a look:

That being said, they were all excellent. If you like sweet, fruit wines, you should visit St. Kathryn's. Bolder reds? Talon. Delicious variety and beautiful gifts (and music in the summer)? Grande River. Emily's favorite helper and a delicious array of wines? Plum Creek.

There you have it!
