Which Colorado Mountain is on the Coors Light Can?
Growing up we all remember the iconic commercials and slogan for Coors Light Beer, "Tap the Rockies, Coors Light". The advertisements made the beer look fun and exciting but really it was the beautiful scenery surrounding the people drinking beer which was the spectacular part. Although, I had no idea what mountain they used when creating the design on the can of beer. After a few minutes of searching around online, I found out that it is Wilson Peak, located near Telluride, Colorado with a massive height of 14,023 feet.
Once I started down the rabbit hole of learning about Wilson Peak "the Coors Light mountain" I soon discovered this beautiful mountain had been used by more than just the beer company but Jeep has also used the mountain in many ads according to The Gazette. Beyond just television commercials and beer cans, the mountain was also featured in the Quintin Tarantino film "The Hateful Eight".
If you're looking to find the exact shot from the can just jump on the gondola at the Telluride Ski Resort, and you will recognize the shot. If you're looking for Wilson Peak make sure you don't google Mount Wilson, both are 14er's in Colorado.
If you're interested in having a Coors Light on Wilson Peak there is a special vacation package to make that happen which includes a three-night stay, a tour to the summit, and more put on by The Hotel Telluride.
One thing still remains a mystery and that is why this specific mountain was picked for the iconic can design. But the best guess is because it is beautiful and located here in Colorado where the Coors Brewing Company was invented.
