A firework show just outside of Windsor caused a multi-agency response for a grass fire on Friday night, June 3.

According to a press release, at about 9:40 p.m. a rogue firework from a "professional firework show" at a private residence started in the fire in a field north of Weld County Road 72 and east of Highway 257.

From the Windsor Fire and Rescue Facebook Page:

WSFR did have a wildland crew on standby at the display per policy for professional events such as this. A safety perimeter consisting of cutting down the vegetation and watering it down before the show had been established. A shell jumped past the safety perimeter and other crews were immediately called in to assist.

They go on to say that the owner of the property and host of the firework show reimbursed all costs associated with the fire.
