COVID-19 just continues to be the pain that will not go away, in fact, this week we have seen rising numbers, especially in Mesa County. But you hate to hear news like this, we got word today from the Grand Junction Police Department that they had two employees test positive for COVID-19.

They are following all protocols from Mesa County Public Health including tracing any potential spreading with anyone they could have come in contact with. All staff members who work close to the individuals who tested positive have been notified and will all be tested for COVID-19. These individuals are also being asked to monitor any potential symptoms and will self-isolate if any symptoms arise.

Grand Junction Police Department Chief, Doug Shoemaker, issued a statement reminding all residents to remember that many of these essential workers don't have the option to work from home. This is why it is so important for everyone to follow the guidelines put in place by Mesa County Public Health.

The tests that came back positive will not change the level of service you should expect from our local law enforcement officers. The Grand Junction Police Department will continue to work with Mesa County Public Health to monitor the situation and make any changes as deemed necessary.

If any staffing or operational changes need to be made the public will be notified, as well as if there are any more cases that come back positive.

Remember just yesterday Mesa County Public Health moved us into 'Safer at Home' Level Orange, click here to find out exactly what that means.
