(Update: July 19) Authorities have identified the two men pulled from the Colorado River on Sunday. The identities are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is still looking for information about how the two men died.

Original Story

One body was discovered near the Blue Heron Boat Ramp, just off the Redlands Parkway around 9:30 a.m. The other was found further downstream near the Persigo Wash Waste Water Treatment Plant approximately two hours later.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office says both victims are male and they don't know at this time if the circumstances of the two deaths are related.

The bodies have been turned over to the Mesa County Coroner's Office. Until the victims have been identified and the cause of death determined, the Sheriff's Office preliminary investigation is treating both deaths as homicides.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who may have information, including the possible identity of the two victims, to contact their office or Crime Stoppers at 241-7867.

The two bodies recovered Sunday are the second and third bodies to be found in recent weeks. The first, Alex Head, disappeared while swimming with friends in the river on July 6.
