Winter can be unforgiving in Colorado. In this case, both the predator and prey became the apparent victims of that harsh reality with both being trapped in an icy reservoir.

Western Colorado has seen an abundance of snow and cold weather this season and even though the ice is thawing at Blue Mesa Reservoir, there are still subfreezing temperatures and snow possible even as we transition from March into April.

I still don't know the exact location in Blue Mesa where these animals were found. However, while hunger likely played a part in this cat's demise, I'm confident my curiosity to learn more won't kill the cat since sadly, he's already dead.

If I do get more information about these deaths, I will share that in an update to this story.
