Now that Denver has the dubious distinction of being the most stoned city in the US, it's no surprise the city is also one of the top 10 least expensive places to buy beer.

Before you think Denver is both stoned and drunk, consider this. Denver's choice as number four on the list is as much about availability as it is about consumption. With two major brewers, Coors and Anheuser Busch, nearby and the fact Colorado is a mecca for craft beer, it's not really too surprising beer would be cheaper here.

According to Nerd Wallet, who conducted the survey, Colorado also has the third lowest beer tax in the nation which may explain why so many breweries choose to locate in the state. It also offers an additional explanation why beer is cheaper here.
