If you're thinking about planting a garden this year, make sure you plant at the right time for optimum growth.

February Planting(starting seeds indoors)

Starting seeds indoors allows you to get the seeds you want to plant started before transplanting them. Frost dates are those dates you want to avoid planting on. If you want to get started right away, make sure you know what to plant. Here are a few suggestions for February.

Celery, Eggplant, Leeks and Bell Peppers all should be started in February in order for them to be ready to transplant in April or May, depending on what you're planting.

March Planting (seed starting)

Starting these seeds indoors during March will have them ready to transplant once the weather warms up enough and we are beyond the freeze window. Those seeds you need to stary in March are Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Collards, Kale, Lettuce, Swiss Chard and Tomatoes.

Getting a head start on your seeds will allow you the extra time to get your garden ready once the weather warms up. April and May are the best months for transplanting into your now ready garden.

Have fun green thumb-ers!
