Could a 'Fresh Prince' reunion be on the way?

The jury at this year’s Cannes film festival features a diverse group of acclaimed filmmakers and actors, including Park Chan-wook, Jessica Chastain, Pedro Almodóvar and Will Smith — yes, as in the artist formerly known as the Fresh Prince. It’s only the second day of the festival, but there’s already a debate between two of this year’s jurors regarding Netflix, which caused a bit of controversy at Cannes before the festival even began.

If you’ve ever wondered what a Tim Burton movie starring Will Smith would look like, you might find out relatively soon. The actor is reportedly circling a role in Disney’s live-action remake of Dumbo, which Burton has been attached to direct for some time now. After delivering the disappointing one-two punch of Suicide Squad and Collateral Beauty, Smith sure could use a win, and joining Disney’s growing empire of live-action remakes seems like a pretty safe bet.

How was the Joker? Is Ben Affleck’s Batman a welcome addition? What about the other surprise DC cameo? Does Amanda Waller’s plan make any sense at all? Who the heck is Slipknot? It seemed inevitable that the trend of TV revivals would eventually reach The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and indeed, some confusion erupted when Will Smith’s production company began development of a suspiciously-similar fish-out-of-water story. That never came to pass, but thankfully Smith now says he’d only consider a Fresh Prince revival “when hell freezes over.”

Yesterday, Entertainment Weekly revealed four new covers featuring the cast of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, which has taken over the latest edition of the magazine. As you probably assumed, that was just the tip of the iceberg, as even more new photos have arrived showing off the full rogues gallery (along with Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller) from the highly-anticipated anti-hero team-up.

"I am stunned and heartbroken," wrote Smith, who was evidently both a fan and a friend of the pop legend.

'It was terrible when I found out my character died,' he said.

Back in June we learned that Joe Carnahan (The Grey) is interested in directing Bad Boys 3, and in August it was reported that Sony had officially put the long-awaited sequel on their release calendar for 2017 (along with a spot for Bad Boys 4 in 2019). Not much else has been reported about the third installment in the franchise, but Will Smith himself has officially confirmed that we’ll be seeing Bad Boys 3 very soon.
