A Grand Junction family lost their home over the weekend following an explosion. What can you do to help?

According to 9News, the home at the corner of 30 Road and Orchard Avenue was leveled early Saturday morning. Investigators suspect a gas leak. Debris from the explosion was scattered over a quarter-mile radius.

What about the family? The good news is nobody was injured. The bad news is, you would need tweezers to pick up what's left of the house.

What can we do to help? According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office official Facebook page, Calvary Chapel Church is accepting donations for the family. The church can be found in Grand Junction at 492 Morning Glory Ln #4. You can contact them at (970) 243-2579.

What kind of donations are needed? At this time, they have not specified any particular items. In the event you would like to donate, items can be dropped off Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Via the MCSO Facebook page, the family has expressed their thanks to the community. In the meantime, they have requested the public respect their privacy during this difficult time.
