On Monday, Mesa County Valley School District 51 began their sponsorship of the Summer Food Service Program at three area elementary schools.

The program will provide meals for all children in the community (18 years of age and under) free of charge. Adult lunches may be purchased for $3.25.

The program will run daily Monday through Friday until July 12. All sites will be closed on Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5.

The three schools participating in the Summer Food Service Program are Rocky Mountain Elementary (3260 D ½ Road in Clifton), Chipeta Elementary (950 Chipeta Avenue in Grand Junction), and Clifton Elementary (3276 F Road in Clifton).

All three schools will provide both breakfast and lunch. Rocky Mountain and Chipeta Elementary will serve breakfast from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m., while Clifton Elementary will serve breakfast from 8:00 to 8:45 a.m.

All three schools will serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
