If you love being outdoors and around water, this could be the perfect seasonal job for you.

The Grand Junction summers are absolutely fantastic - hot and dry. Some might even consider it a western Colorado paradise when you consider the fact lots of people spend thousands of dollars to travel to a tropical climate - for the same conditions. So, okay, maybe you're not being served cold beverages on a white, sandy beach and eating like kings and queens, but - it does feel like a tropical location.

Welcome to River Park at Las Colonias

One of the coolest additions to the Grand Junction outdoor scene is River Park at Las Colonias that opened last year. There's water fun in the river and floating available in the ponds, and it's a great place to go for a walk.

River Park Hosts Are Wanted

Grand Junction Parks and Recreation is looking for River Park hosts for the 2021 summer season. Applicants need to be at least 18 years of age and the job runs from late April through the beginning of September. You need to have, or be willing to get a valid CPR  and First Aid Certification.

What Do River Park Hosts Do?

River Park hosts act as ambassadors for the park by "engaging and educating" people at the park on the proper use of the park, the ponds, the trails, and other amenities and generally provide good guest relations and interactions. Hosts will also help keep the park clean and work with Parks and Rec staff to make sure the park is safe and fun. The pay range is between $12.94 and $13.60 per hour.

How to Apply to Be A River Host

Anyone interested in being a River Host can apply online on the city website. Successful applicants will have to pass a background check and drug screening. Applications will be received until April 8.

River Park at Las Colonias will be a popular place as the temperatures begin to warm toward those summer Grand Junction temperatures we all know and love. For someone looking for a seasonal job, this is a great opportunity.
