Remembering a Winter Phenomenon that Took Over a Colorado Town
Colorado is a magical place all year round, but nothing quite compares to the winter in the Centennial State. Of course, world-famous ski resorts like Vail, Aspen, and Telluride account for a lot of the tourism that the state sees in the winter, but at one point, another phenomenon came to a small mountain town in Colorado that gained a lot of attention.

Dillon Ice Castles: A Colorado Winter Phenomenon
In case you're not familiar, Dillon is a quaint mountain town in Summit County near popular ski towns like Breckenridge and Keystone, but the town itself is more well-known for its massive reservoir than for winter sports.
However, that was not always the case.
In the not-so-distant past, the town of Dillon would come together to build massive, gorgeous ice castles. The castles looked like something out of a big-budget fantasy film and were quite popular.
Unfortunately, it was announced not terribly long ago that the Ice Castles would not be returning to their former location at 120 Buffalo Street due to space restrictions.
The official statement stated the following:
There simply isn’t any place for them to go anymore, but they’re remembered fondly as one of Dillon’s favorite winter events. Ice Castles still hold events in nearby states, so it’s worth checking out for a weekend trip if you’re set on experiencing the massive creations.
