Promenade Shops Holiday Ice Rink in Loveland Won’t Be Happening for 2022
Another blow to the Loveland area for the 2022 holiday season, as the Promenade Shops at Centerra has announced that the ice rink won't be opening.
It was just a couple of weeks ago that it was announced that Loveland's Holiday Council would not be putting up their annual decorations. Now, another longtime favorite activity for the Loveland/Fort Collins area won't be putting smiles on thousands of faces.
How many families have gone out to the Promenade Shops each holiday season to get some skates on and have some fun at the annual ice rink? It has to be up in the tens of thousands of families, throughout the years.

Of course, getting folks out for some outdoor ice skating also gets them into the many stores and restaurants at the Promenade Shops, that's why it seems it must have been a very difficult decision to not open the rink this year. The gang at Dick's Sporting Goods and Paciugo Gelato and Coffee (both near the rink) have got to at least a little upset that the customer draw won't be going on this year.
The Reporter-Herald received an email from the Promenade Shops stating that the well-liked ice rink won't be happening due to the all-too-mentioned-lately costs of materials and labor.
It doesn't look like Foothills (mall) will be having their ice rink either, but I did see that Erie's outdoor rink is happening, with open skates costing $10 for adults and $8 for kids 12 and under.
