Colorado's mask order has just been extended by the state's governor Jared Polis.
The Colorado mask order has been extended by Governor Jared Polis to at least Saturday, January 6th. The original mask order, which required Coloradans to wear masks in order to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, was put into effect in July of 2020, a few months after the pandemic was officially recognized by United States officials.
However, following Polis' initial mandate, it was announced that it was amended, stating this:
A mandatory mask-wearing requirement for Colorado went into effect in July 2020 and recently was amended in Executive Order D 2020-281 on December 14, 2020 until January 6, 2021. It may continue to be extended if necessary.
The executive order allows the state to grant limited waivers for people to go without masks for a limited time to perform specific, one-time indoor activities that cannot otherwise be performed while wearing a mask, provided the activity can be done safely. Exemptions will not be granted to requests where it would be easier or more comfortable to perform the activity without the mask.
We are not taking individual waiver requests but are reviewing organization requests based on physical impossibility or safety risks if a mask is required. Organizations can initiate a waiver by completing the "Request for Mask Exemption" form.
Polis' statewide mask mandate will continue in Colorado at least until Saturday, February 6th, 2021.
