Many Delta students will have another option when it comes to their education this fall.

For more than 36 years, Colorado West Christian School has been operating in Montrose and the Delta County Independent reports it plans to open a new school in Delta for the 2021-2022 school year.

Minimum Number of Students Required

If the school is going to open this fall, it will need to have a  minimum of 50 students enrolled. As a private school, the tuition will be $4,000 per student with a discount provided for families. A second child would get a 15% discount, the third child in a family would get a 25% discount and the fourth child - or more - would get free admission.

Where Is the New School Located?

The new school will be located at Rivers Church, just off of Main Street on the corner of Eaton Avenue and Dodge Street. The church, previously known as Delta Assembly of God, has facilities that aren't being used during the week that will be utilized for the new school.

So far 26 students are committed to the Delta school for the coming fall with enrollment set to open in May. The school will have an on-site administrator but will be managed from the Montrose location. With an enrollment of 50 students, the school plans to have one teacher for each grade level. If enrollment rises above 50, they'll look at adding teacher assistants.

The new school in Delta will appeal to families who can afford the tuition of a private school and who want their kids to learn and to be educated in a Christian environment.
