For some people, the best way to start the new year is with a brand new job.

The Delta County Sheriff's Office has announced an opening for a detention deputy that pays between $46,000 and $51,000 per year, based on experience and certification.

Detention facility work is not easy, but it's a good job for the right person. That person could be you or someone you know. The job responsibilities include the maintenance of security, incarceration, and welfare of the inmates.

Here are some of the basic qualifications for the position.

* You must be dependable, have good judgment, and work well under stress.
* High school diploma or equivalent is required.
* Minimum five years of experience dealing with the public, and supervisory experience is preferred.
* You must work with tact and professionalism

* Self-defense training
* CPR certification
* First aid certification
