A hike up Western Colorado's iconic Mt. Garfield includes magnificent scenery, fun but challenging trails, and an increasing amount of graffiti and vandalism.

Granted, some of the etching in the rocks was done decades ago. Nevertheless, the problem continues.

At one time, Mt. Garfield had a flag near the summit. Now, only the base of the flagpole remains.

Even the access tunnel to the parking lot shows increasing signs of graffiti.

If you see anyone defacing our natural resources, please contact the local Bureau of Land Management Office.
