Most Restaurants Say They Couldn’t Survive Another Shut Down

We don't know if there will be another mandatory shut down, nobody wants that, but the numbers of positive cases across the state of Colorado continues to rise. Which puts us between a rock and a hard place. Because KDVR is reporting that according to the Colorado Restaurant Association 79% of restaurants would consider closing permanently if they are forced to shut down indoor dining again to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Restaurant owners were nervous approaching the winter months with most areas across our state that are allowing 50% capacity, although some counties are only at 25% capacity.

The CEO of the Colorado Restaurant Association says that after looking at the survey results they got back it looks like nearly 25% of restaurants would be shutting down for good if the state ends up shutting down restaurants again. Which is obviously very alarming for all Colorado citizens.

The restaurant industry makes up nearly 10% of the whole Colorado workforce so this would be detrimental to our whole state. But as you know the only reason the state would shut down restaurants is that COVID-19 numbers get so high that it is the only safe option for the community. Let's hope this doesn't happen.

We do know that there have been numerous school districts across the state of Colorado that in the past week have made the switch to remote learning instead of in-person due to the increase in COVID-19 cases. I think we all thought we would be over this by now when this whole pandemic began in March but only time will tell when this whole thing is behind us.
