A Montrose County Sheriff's deputy was shot early Monday morning (March 25th) while responding to a domestic violence call.

The Denver Post is stating that two Montrose sheriff deputies responded to a call near Crawford where they met with the female victim. When the deputies knocked on the door of the home, the suspect fired two shots at them.

One deputy was shot, he is surgery at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction.

The Montrose County Sheriff's office is working with the areas SWAT Team, Special Response Team as well as Delta and Mesa County Sheriff's to apprehend the suspect.

The suspects name is not being released at this time.
