So many people believe that "porch pirates" are only around during the holidays but a video just released online by the Mesa County Sheriffs Office shows us otherwise. While some people seem to laugh at porch pirates, it's not funny, it's theft. And it happens way too often here in Western Colorado.

As you will see in the video below there is a woman that jumps out of a vehicle in the area of E 1/2 Road and 32 1/2 Road and steals a package from a doorstep. There aren't many details released about this case, as far as what was in the package. But really, it doesn't matter, no one should be taking things that aren't theirs.

You will also notice that during the short video that was captured by the homeowner's Ring video doorbell the clumsy thief actually drops the package while attempting to flee back to the getaway vehicle. But she did retrieve the item and ultimately got away, which is why law enforcement needs your help to track her down.

This is another great reminder to make sure we are keeping a lookout for all of our neighbors too. It was just a few months ago that we saw in one Grand Junction neighborhood that signs had been posted about Porch Pirates being seen in the neighborhood. That is one out of the box idea to fight this type of crime.
