Justin Timberlake Borrowed James Van Der Beek’s I.D. to Get Into a Bar in the ’90s
Stop it. Stop it right now, '90s-era celebrities and boy bands -- our hearts can't take any more nostalgia! (Just kidding, they totally can and bring it on.)
In the latest tale of '90s resurgence, James Van Der Beek has just revealed that he once allowed Justin Timberlake to use his I.D. to get into a club in Las Vegas back in the day. Tsk, tsk, JVDB. What would Dawson say?
"I was in Vegas one New Year's and somebody came by and said, 'N Sync wants to meet you!' And at the time, 'N Sync was the second to Backstreet Boys, it was before they had blown up," Van Der Beek recalled to the Huffington Post. "They had just come out with some Christmas album, like at the same time 98 Degrees did. So, I said, 'OK.' And I met them and they were so sweet, they were so nice. They were such cool kids and I immediately liked them."
"I remember that night, we were all going to some club and they were all too young," he continued. "And so I went in and somehow passed my I.D. back so that Justin could get in with my I.D. And then Justin got in and then tried to pass it off to Lance [Bass] to get in. By the third time [the bouncers] saw a James Van Der Beek I.D., they were like, 'Ah, I don't think so James.'"
Lance Bass, shut out! So, what did he do when he couldn't get into the club?
We don't know for sure, but we like to think that he mosied on down to Capeside and hung out with the rest of the 'Dawson's Creek' gang.
Shhh, let us pretend.
