Not many things are as annoying as getting woken up from a deep sleep by the sound of your Colorado neighbor running a lawn mower or a snowblower before 8 AM. While every municipality is a little different, laws are in place to prevent people from creating unnecessary, unusual, and unusually loud noises during designated hours.

Thankfully, Mesa County isn't famous for snow like Aspen is. While you may NEVER need a snow blower in Grand Junction, but you might use one regularly if you live on the Grand Mesa or in parts of Delta or Montrose County.

Snowblower Use In Grand Junction and Mesa County

While you might need a broom to remove Grand Junction's powdery snow, we rarely get enough snow in the valley for most people to own a snowblower. This doesn't mean it can't happen.

Grand Junction's noise ordinance is in place from 8 PM to 6 AM. The noise ordinance is in place in Mesa County from 11 PM to 6 AM. Operating a snow blower during the overnight or early morning hours could violate the ordinance and result in a fine. Law enforcement is empowered to determine on-site if you violate the ordinance. Generally, any noise higher than 55 decibels could put you in violation of an ordinance during those hours.

The noise level from a lawnmower or snowblower usually reaches about 110 decibels.

Snowblower Use In Delta County

In Delta, the city noise ordinance is in place from 7 PM to 7 AM. The noise level acceptable during overnight and early morning hours differs depending on zoning. It's meant for residential areas. Allowable noise levels during ordinance hours are different for commercial and industrial zones.

The city noise ordinance in Montrose lasts from 9 PM to 9 AM.

Snowblower Use In Denver

The city of Denver does not allow residents to make any noise that exceeds 50 decibels between 10 PM and 7 AM. In Denver, the noise ordinance is enforced by the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment. In Colorado's capital city, you can pick up the phone and dial 3-1-1 to report someone violating the city noise ordinance.
