Grand Junction Lunch Loop Rebuild: What’s Open Now?
Anyone who has ridden the Lunch Loop over the last decade knows it’s more than just a favorite bike park; the loops are part of Grand Junction’s identity. You may have noticed the iconic spot has been planning a full rebuild, and construction is underway.
New features for beginners and seasoned riders have been confirmed in partnership with local trail group COPMOBA. The project signals a huge investment in the area’s outdoor future. Here’s what’s happening.

If you have never been to the Lunch Loop Bike Park, it’s located off Monument Road on your way to the Colorado National Monument. COPMOBA and a crew of professional trail builders are actively rebuilding the space. Western Slope Trellis describes a reimagining of the park designed to improve flow, safety, and long-term use of the bike park. See the site rebuild map here.
What’s Actually Being Built at Lunch Loop Bike Park
Included as part of the upgrade will be a dual slalom course, fun features for multiple skill levels, and an expanded zone for kids and beginner riders. Pro Tip: Drive carefully on Monument Road. Watch for pedestrians with pets and cyclists. In 2025, Grand Junction installed a flashing HAWK light at the Lunch Loop/Tabeguache trails to provide a safe crossing. The bike park sits just outside the East entrance to the Colorado National Monument, and traffic volume can spike suddenly.

The main Lunch Loop / Tabeguache trail system is open. Most of the larger trail network (dozens of miles of singletrack) remains rideable. The park continues to support mountain biking, hiking, and trail running as a shared-use system.
The area near the main trailhead is the part impacted. The Lunch Loop Bike Park (skills area, jumps, pump track zones) is the area being rebuilt. The redesign is a great thing for Grand Junction’s reputation as a top outdoor destination in Colorado, and it creates even more riding options for families and beginners.
