Water lanterns and glowing messages will fill Grand Junction's Butterfly Pond once again this October, as the community comes together to enjoy a fall evening under the stars.

Grand Junction will gather at the Butterfly Pond on October 11, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Enjoy food trucks and a chance to gather with friends and family as the sun sets over the Monument. Water lanterns will be launched at 6:45 p.m. and collected at 8 p.m.

Water Lights at Night is a free event. Everyone in Grand Junction is invited to enjoy the glow. Know before you go: Only lanterns purchased from the city of Grand Junction are permitted to be launched in the butterfly pond.

Lantern Kit Pricing & Preorder Instructions

There is a limited number of water lanterns available each year, and while they will be on sale the night of the event, you can pre-order a lantern kit now, and you'll save a couple of bucks.

Lanterns can be purchased in solo packs all the way up to packs of twelve, with deeper discounts the more you buy. Purchase lanterns online here. Lanterns cost $8 in advance and $10 the evening of the event.
