Have you visited Garfield's restaurant on the Redlands lately? One of our staff did yesterday, and they were greeted by closed doors. Is Garfield's closed for good?

Garfield's has been in operation at 2148 Broadway for decades. Many consider it to be Grand Junction's premier restaurant. Granted, things have been slow lately.

Well, yesterday, one of our staff went to Garfield's for dinner. They found the doors closed and locked. One of the nearby business owners mentioned the restaurant had shut down.

Earlier today I called Garfield's phone number. An automated voice informed me the number was temporarily disconnected. With that information, I decided to drive out and take a look for myself. Sure enough, the lights were off and the doors locked. An employee at a nearby store said Garfield's had closed their doors for good.

Unfortunately, Garfield's official Facebook page makes no mention as to their status. As mentioned earlier, the phone line has been temporarily disconnected.

I, for one, have thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant over the years. Recently, the atmosphere has been enhanced even more with the addition of live music with Phil Crisitino on Friday evenings.

With any luck, this is only a temporary closure. Here's hoping Garfield's will be open again soon. For the time being, though, doors are closed.
