I've been thinking about this topic for a while and decided to finally write a few things down. I have always been a little hesitant with social media. This takes me all the way back to Myspace. I wasn't sure about it, so I was late to jump on the social media platform.

Once I jumped on to social media it became so much fun doing a fun quiz or answering silly questions to learn more about the people in our lives. Plus it was always a great way to stay connected with loved ones. But now it feels like a huge source of negativity.

I don't mean that because of the protesting currently taking place, because I was feeling this way months before this. To me, it seems like social media has become very fake. People will only post a photo if they look amazing and if they don't get a certain amount of likes the photo will come down or be deleted later.

And I can't even begin on how social media has divided our country through politics and racist comments. It feels like a huge weight on our shoulders to scroll through our feed to see who is fighting with who, or why this person seems to be offended today.

I've finally understood why so many people way more intelligent than I am who say that limiting your time on social media can help you live a happier life. Moving forward I want to spend less time staring at my screen and enjoying the things around me. We only get one chance to live life to the fullest, it's time to take advantage of this time.
