Have you seen the Mesa County Sheriff's Office's new Special Olympics "Torch Run" car? Your chance to see it up close is coming up this Friday.

Check out the new patrol car! This MCSO vehicle's "wrap" honors their partnership with Special Olympics Colorado.

Who's responsible for the artwork? A big "thank you" goes out to Grand Junction's very own Bud's Signs Inc. They took a regular ol' Chevy Tahoe patrol car and turned it into a masterpiece. I spoke with the MCSO earlier today, and they informed me the wrap will remain on the vehicle permanently. In the meantime, the Torch Run car is in active service with the MCSO

Where can you see this car with your own eyes? It will be on display at the Glow N Games at Long Family Memorial Park at 3117 E 1/2 Road in Grand Junction this Friday, May 17, at 6 p.m.

What's happening at the event? This Special Olympics fundraiser gets underway with:

  • Packet pickup starts at 6:00 pm
  • 7:00 pm CrossFit and Bearcat Pull events begin. Teams participating in both will start with CrossFit.
  • 9:00 pm Glow 5k Starts!

Be sure to get your photo with the Torch Run car. It's very cool. Support your local law enforcement agency and the athletes with Special Olympics Colorado. Please make plans to attend this Friday.
