When it comes to 14ers, Colorado has the most 14ers in all of the United States. Colorado has 53 14ers, which are mountain peaks that 14,000 feet or higher. Although no 14er is really 'easy' to climb, these 14ers are the ones that are the most challenging.

Class 4 means handholds and footholds will be used for progress with extreme exposure.

    Pyramid Peak has an elevation gain of 4,500 feet. This is the fifth most difficult 14er to climb in Colorado and is in the Elk Mountains near Aspen.

    Mount Wilson is a Class 4 14er, along with all the 14ers on this list. Mount Wilson has an elevation gain of 5,100 feet. This 14er is near Telluride in the San Juan Mountains.

    Sunlight Peak

    The third most difficult 14er to climb is Sunlight Peak. Sunlight Peak is in the San Juan Mountains with an elevation gain of 6,000 feet.

    Little Bear Peak

    Little Bear Peak is in the Sangre de Cristo Range near Blanca. It's no wonder this is the second most difficult 14er to climb in Colorado with an elevation gain of 6,200 feet.

    Capitol Peak

    Capital Peak is the most difficult 14er to climb and one of the closest to Grand Junction. The hardest 14er to climb in Colorado is about two and a half hours away in the Elk Mountains. There's an elevation gain of 5,300 feet and Capitol Peak is the 14er pictured at the top.
