You may not have noticed Grand Junction's newest restaurant is now open in the Redlands.

LaCabra Cantina is now open and serving a southwest Tex-Mex flavor of Mexican food. It's described as a "blend of spices, chile peppers, a little fire, and a lot of flavors."

LaCabra opened in March at the former location of Dos Hombres on Broadway just west of Monument Road.

The owner is Randy Gulden, who owns two popular Grand Junction restaurants, the Goat and Clover in downtown Grand Junction and Boston's. Randy has been on the western slope since 2008 and told me he absolutely loves it in Grand Junction.

LaCabra features their own sauces ranging from mild to medium to hot. While I was there, I enjoyed a delicious enchilada with a spicy red sauce that delivered a nice little kick- enough to know it was there but not so much that it was uncomfortable.

The restaurant is still in the process of transitioning, but they are open for business. They have introduced a new menu and Randy tells me "nothing from a can."

The restaurant is open from 11am-9pm Sunday thru Thursday and 11am-10pm on Friday and Saturday, with happy hour from 2-7. I noticed they have a nice covered patio, which is going to be super fantastic with the weather starting to warm up.
