It’s definitely the holiday season, and a very busy one at that with all of the festive events scheduled during the Christmas holidays.

To help keep track of the holiday events, here’s a list of what’s going this coming weekend:

  • Duffy's Model Train Christmas Show

    Duffy’s Outdoor Power Equipment is hosting Duffy’s Model Train Christmas Show on weekends through the month of December.

    Duffy’s Model Train Christmas Show features The Grande Railroad Gang and their N scale display.

    Admission is a suggested donation of $1 per child, $3 per adult, or $5 per family. All proceeds will be donated to Operation Interdependence.

  • Changing Landscapes of Science Lecture

    The Museum of Western Colorado will host the “Changing Landscapes of Science Lecture” at the Whitman Educational Center.

    Bob Witham of Two Rivers Winery will present the lecture, and Thursday’s topic is “Wines: It’s All About Acids.”

    Cost is $5 for members and students and $10 for non-members.

    Downtown Grand Junction will host its annual Chocolate Walk at 5:30 p.m. Friday (December 12TH).

    Participants are asked to meet at Enstrom Candies at 701 Colorado Avenue in Grand Junction.

    The public is invited to a walking tour of Grand Junction’s Main Street, and participants will have a choice of either an Art on the Corner Tour or a History Tour.

    Bethlehem Revisited is a live, walk-through Bethlehem experience. Imagine being able to step back to a time about 2,000 years ago, and walk the streets of ancient Bethlehem as Mary and Joseph did on the night of Christ’s birth.

    In addition to pancakes served by 8TH grade students, activities include story time, Christmas caroling, free photos with Santa, and a few other surprises.

    This event captures the magic of Christmas, and has elements that follow the children through to Christmas Eve.

    Tickets are $10 per person and $50 per family (immediate).

    This event is a fundraiser for Caprock Academy’s 8TH grade class, with proceeds going towards a spring trip to Washington, D.C.

  • Jingle Bell Run 5K

    The annual Jingle Bell Run 5K is scheduled for Saturday at Canyon View Park in Grand Junction. Participants are asked to meet at the baseball shelter.

    Registration starts at 8:00 a.m. and the 5K will begin at 9:00 a.m. A 1K for kids will begin at 10:00 a.m.

    Roice-Hurst Humane Society will be on-site accepting donations of dog and cat food, as well as cat litter.
